We have the pleasure this time of receiving information from Ghella’s Kitchen which is an excellent Malaysian Food restaurant. This is our 6th issue of Businesses in Marikina. MarikinaNegosyo.com tries to promote small to medium businesses here in Marikina City.
Why are you in business?
Ghella’s Kitchen is a family business. It all started from our mom’s love and passion to cook Filipino food. She stayed in Brunei for more than 20 years, so do I for 1year. She adopted the Malaysian food and this is where it all started. We decided to look for a small area for our food business. Our passion is to eat and we love to try new cuisines.
How did you decide that you want to put up this kind of business?
At first we were hesitant; the risk was too high. We pooled our savings and took the chance of starting first in a small place. We thought that not everyone has experienced eating Malaysian food and this is something unique we can offer to the public.
Does your business have a mission or do you have core values in your business?
We don’t have a clear mission and vision yet but we do use a hash tag that we call our own; this is #GoodFoodWithLove.
What is your management style?
Being a restaurant manager is a constant balancing act. While you bleed customer service, the fabric of your being is stitched together by the need to manage people.
Not just because you’re a people person; doesn’t mean you’re a people pleaser. There are many ways to manage, to teach, and to run a tight ship. We try as much as possible to run a smooth line, all while ensuring exceptional customer service.
– Be Yourself.
– Don’t be afraid to turn over a new leaf
– Be Adaptable
– Be Consistent
Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next five years? The next ten years?
Hopefully Ghella’s Kitchen becomes successful.
What is the best selling point of your business?
It is the uniqueness of the Malaysian Cuisine here in Marikina city, Philippines.
Who are your customers?
It looks like everyone enjoys our food. We have customers 18 to 65 years old.
What are the biggest issues for running this business?
Hiring & Training Staff – Most successful restaurant owners know the importance of hiring and training the right employees. Despite being very diligent in picking the right staff, there will still be problems. There’s a possibility that a poor staff can irreparably damage your current and future business.
